Tea Bowl #1

This tea bowl has layers of slips and glazes to get these rich surfaces, the 10% clay mix has the rich 1:1:1 flashing slip applied with obvious finger marks, after bisque the interior shino glaze is applied before the outside shino glaze applied with the same finger positions as for the slip – so those finger marks are like little windows back the base clay. Fired on the floor of the kiln the variable atmosphere has played out across the the bowl leaving intense variations of colour.
